The Volkswagen Golf has won yet another industry accolade, being named "Car of the Year 2013' by Autocar Asean, in an award presentation held recently at the Kuala Lumpur International Motor Show (KLIMS) 2013.
"(The Golf) encompasses Volkswagen’s philosophy in terms of advanced technologies, timeless design and superior built, and outstanding German-engineered driving performance," said managing director of Volkswagen Group Malaysia Dr Zeno Kerschbaumer.
“We are very pleased to receive this award from Autocar Asean in conjunction with our participation in KLIMS 2013.
"This is a wonderful highlight for us as this award further demonstrates a continuation of the Golf’s refined capabilities and widespread attraction across nationalities and walks of life.”
The Golf, which currently holds both European Car of the Year 2013 as well as World Car of the Year 2013, competed against more than 30 vehicles to receive this award.
It is Volkswagen’s first model in Malaysia to ride on the new Modular Transverse Matrix (MQB) platform, one of Volkswagen Group’s different modular component sets.
The car already meets the limits of EU-6 emissions standards, with 116g/km of CO2 output, and its engine also gives an economical fuel consumption of 20km/L.
This efficiency, combined with its good looks and power, helped put this car at the top.
